Who books a private driver

Hiring a driver makes sense when a day has several stops and you would rather not arrange a new taxi at each one. The car waits while you visit a place, then takes you on when you are ready.

  • Families with small children or older relatives, who want the car close by all day
  • Travellers who want to stop at viewpoints, villages or markets that tours drive past
  • Business visitors with meetings in different parts of the city
  • Anyone who wants a loose plan they can change as the day goes on

If you only need to get from one place to another, a transfer is simpler: see Tbilisi airport transfers, Batumi airport transfers or the Tbilisi to Batumi transfer. If you want a planned day out with set sights, our private tours may suit you better.

Driver or guide: what you get

Your driver speaks English, drives, waits and helps with the logistics of the day. A guide explains the history and leads you around the sites. They are different jobs, and the driver is not automatically a guide.

If you would like a guide as well, ask when you request a quote and we will arrange one for your date.

Tbilisi

A private driver in Tbilisi

Central Tbilisi is slow at rush hour and parking near the Old Town is limited. With the car waiting nearby, or meeting you at the next stop, a day that mixes the Old Town, a market across the river and a restaurant on the edge of the city stays simple.

Many people use the driver to leave the capital for the day. Mtskheta is close enough for a morning, the Georgian Military Road heads north toward Kazbegi, and Kakheti lies to the east. If you want those as planned trips, see the Kazbegi, Kakheti and Mtskheta and Jvari tours.

A full day includes up to 500 km, enough for most trips out of the capital. Days that end in another city are quoted on request.

Batumi

A private driver in Batumi

Batumi itself is compact and the seafront is easy on foot. A driver earns its keep when you leave the centre: the coast toward Kobuleti, the hills and waterfalls inland in Adjara, or a day split between places that are awkward to link by public transport.

Many visitors to Batumi stay in apartment towers rather than hotels, and several buildings share similar names. Send the exact address or a map pin with your request so the pickup goes smoothly.

A full day includes up to 500 km. For set trips around the city and into the mountains, see Batumi tours.

Prices and how the time works

You book a block of time, not a single ride. Half a day is 4 hours. A full day is 9 hours in Tbilisi and 8 hours in Batumi. If the day runs longer, extra time is charged by the hour. Prices are for the whole vehicle. A full day includes up to 500 km; longer distances are priced on request.

Driving out of the city and back takes up part of the day, so a long route leaves less time at each stop. Tell us roughly where you want to go and we will say whether it fits.

Van

What to send for a quote

A useful quote depends on a few details:

  • Date or dates, and the time you want to start
  • Pickup address in Tbilisi or Batumi
  • Roughly where you want to go, even if the plan is loose
  • How many people, and any luggage you carry during the day
  • Whether you need a child seat or have any accessibility needs

Questions about hiring a driver

Is the price per car or per person?

Per car. A private driver is priced for the vehicle, whatever the number of passengers it carries, and the quote states what it covers.

Does the driver speak English?

Yes, our drivers speak English. If you need another language, ask when you request a quote.

Can I change the plan during the day?

Within the agreed time and area, yes. Bigger changes, such as adding a distant place, may change the price, so the driver will check with you first.

Can we start in Tbilisi and finish in Batumi?

That is usually a Tbilisi to Batumi transfer with stops added. Tell us the places you want to see on the way and we will quote the trip as a whole.

Is the driver also a guide?

No. The driver drives and helps with logistics. A guide is a separate arrangement that you can ask for.

Send your date, pickup point and group size on WhatsApp. We reply with a price for your vehicle. Asking does not commit you to anything.
