Kutaisi airport to Tbilisi
Tbilisi is roughly 250 kilometres east of the airport, about three to four hours by car depending on traffic and the stops you make. The highway runs east across the country and over the Rikoti Pass, then on to the capital.
The driver takes you to your hotel or apartment in Tbilisi. If you are flying out of Tbilisi later in your trip, the Tbilisi airport transfer covers the last leg.
Kutaisi airport to Batumi
Batumi is about 130 to 150 kilometres to the south-west, around two to two and a half hours by car. The road crosses the lowlands of western Georgia to the Black Sea and follows the coast past Kobuleti into the city.
Many visitors to Batumi stay in apartment towers with similar names, so send the building name and a map pin. For days out once you are there, see Batumi tours.
Kutaisi airport to Tbilisi or Batumi: car, bus or taxi
Kutaisi airport is outside the city, near the village of Kopitnari, and most arriving passengers travel straight on to Tbilisi or Batumi. These are the three usual ways to do it.
| Option | What it is like | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Private transfer | The car is booked for your flight and the driver waits at arrivals with your name. The first hour of waiting is free. Door to door, with the price per vehicle agreed before you travel. | Families, groups, late arrivals and anyone with luggage |
| Airport bus | Georgian Bus runs shuttles from the airport to Tbilisi and Batumi that leave after flights land. Tickets are sold online at georgianbus.com and at the counter after customs. The bus stops at set points in the city, not at your door. | Solo travellers on a budget with light bags |
| Taxi at the terminal | Taxis wait outside the terminal. For a trip this long, the fare is agreed with the driver on the spot. | Travellers happy to arrange a car on arrival |
Bus times change with the flight schedule, so check them before you travel. A private car is the option that does not depend on when your flight lands or how much you carry.
Meeting your driver
Your driver meets you in the arrivals hall with a sign showing your name. If anything changes on the day, message us on WhatsApp.
Delays and waiting time
We follow your flight number, so the pickup moves with a delayed flight. The first hour of waiting after landing is free; longer waits are agreed with you on WhatsApp.
